The basics. 1-THE EQUIPMENT !

The baking business will require from my side, some investment in what actually will make the magic and transform my skills into delicious cakes, pastries, chocolate and anything else that my inspiration will bring. THE EQUIPMENT is fundamental in this business and it should most definitely be of good quality.

I have compiled a list of the necessary utensils, and ..well, it is pretty long, and also expensive. But well, I guess compared to many other businesses the investment is way much lower, and in any case even if this will not succeed I will still use all the equipment for my home. So I consider it a lifetime investment for my home.

1. First and the most pricey will be stand mixer. The most famous brand is Kitchen Aid, but also the most expensive, and personally I think that also other brands have great mixers, but are less expensive and the same quality. Kenwood is a great choice.

2. Food processor. This is one important tool in making shortcrust pastry, mixing, blending usually the dry ingredients of a cake or pastry, also mincing nuts. In this category there way too many options out there, and it is getting me very confused, I definitely don't have the patience to look at every one of them. What is important when choosing a food processor is the volume you can work with them and the power of the engine. From this perspective I will choose either a Kenwood with 750 W and 2.1l or Moulinex with 1000 W and also 3l. Most probably I will go for Moulinex.

3. Hand mixer. This is optional since I will be getting a stand mixer, however it is sometimes easier to use a hand mixer, rather than a stand mixer, especially when mixing small quantities of ingredients. In this category I will most probably choose a Tefal or Moulinex.

4. Blender. Even if I will most probably receive a blender, included in one of the other products I will be buying, it is, at least for me necessary to have a hand blender, such as the one in the picture below.

5. Electric scale. Very important. As is always required a lot of precision, and a scale will help you accomplish that. Many times we try to work by the eye, which surely is fun and sometimes the results are better than what we were expecting, BUT many recipes do require exact measurements. So...I will need a scale.

This is the first part from the series "The Basics". The basics of electrical tools needed in baking. However some of these tools could easily be considered not basics, and the baking could be done without any electrical equipment, we just nowadays like to make our lives easier, and sure..why not (?!)
